It was truly a pleasure being part of your The Monarch Project. We tend to forget how fragile we are as human beings, just like the butterfly. That we can be caught, clipped and crushed in the blink of an eye. The Monarch is Mother Nature’s original “migrant” and like migrants, have always been subject to the vicissitudes of man’s inhumanity towards nature. In order to survive, both man and nature need to coexist in a harmony that will foster the survival of both. Humankind has forgotten this and has raped the land, the sea and the air with impunity. For this, if we do not act, we as a species will pay dearly along with our non-human, but sentient co-inhabitants on this planet. The Monarch is also very colorful as ALL immigrants are. They bring their own “flavor” and color to the fabric and landscape that is humanity. Having folks who believe that this natural, yet different beauty is a detriment is an ideology that needs to be corrected, suppressed and totally exorcised from the lexicon of life. We can do this. It takes much work and a lot of caring. We have it in us and as current stewards of this orb. It is incumbent on us to make it so. The Monarch Project is a beginning. An awakening that hopefully will inspire the good in us to take charge of what we have been so blessed to be born into.
